What specific expectations are there for service projects with vulnerable youth?

Lean in and provide “bumpers” for youth rather than doing the work for them.

Because ProAct values people over action, we ask that you show up as yourself and when working alongside vulnerable youth, take a step back and allow our youth to take a step up. Lean in and provide “bumpers” for youth rather than doing the work for them.

We also ask that you lower your expectations, too, for service projects. If you have been volunteering for a while, you might be used to showing up and “doing the work” right away, service projects with ProAct follow the same flow no matter whom we are working with (see the graphic below). We want to make this an experience for everyone involved so that we are ensuring that we are prioritizing people over action.
